Umax 1220U scanner in winXP

hi all,

I have a Umax 1220U scanner in winXP (Pro). The OS detects it and it does work how ever i can not get any of the Vistascan software to work with it. It just hangs when i try and do a scanner test.

I have tried Vs355u with the win XP update (also tried vscan353 with the 355 update, this combination worked in win2000).

Anyone managed to get vistascan to work? if so please let me know. 🙂

tnt 16mb card
80Gb seagate barracuda IV
40Gb IBM GXP60
256Mb pc133
soundblaster vibra 128
network card and tv tuner card bt878 based...

I had a umax 3400 and it would always cause problems in XP. It would hang and hardley ever be seen as connected. Piece of junk and junk software. Got a cannon scanner and it always works. Vista scan never worked right

I remembered reading PC magazine about UMAX scanner and XP. All UMAX scanners WILL NOT work with XP that is why I am not ready to upgrade to XP or replace scanner because I am happy with scanner and Win2K Pro.

So all I know Microsoft and UMAX are not talking each other anymore.

hi Rottie,

my umax scanner works fine with winXP provided you use it thru winXP. One of the most used features of my scanner was the photocopy feature where i can use it in combination with my printer as a photocopier, and is the main reason i wanted to get vistascan software running.

I am just dissapointed becuase i just upgraded to winXP from win2k and Vistascan worked fine in win2k.
