I don't see how I broke any rules in my thread. Why on earth would it be locked? It doesn't make any sense.

i am not sure... but it could be one of two things.

1) it belongs in FS/T

but more likely

2) asking for barcodes and etc to return damaged merchandise is a definate and serious no-no here.

My money is on #2

It's not damaged - it does function, it's just under recall by Sony. I don't really want my house to burn down because of this thing. But it seems Sony will only replace an AC adapter for free if you give them a barcode from a PS2, which is kinda f'd up, consindering *ALL* AC adapters made from that period are being recalled. I'm not trying to defraud sony.. they recalled ALL A/C adapters that were made during a certain period.. it should be illegal for them to charge money to replace something that they recalled! Maybe to pay for shipping, but certianly not $40, twice the cost of the new (new as unused, but happens to be made in 2004) a/c adapter I bought.

At this rate, losing the stupid $20 a/c adapter is gonna cost me $80 :(

So........ if anyone has a barcode from their slimline PS2 they can PM me (ie if your AC adapter isn't recalled or if you just don't care), it would be greatly appreciated! -- big nono!!
Doesn`t matter if what you need it for you own or if it even works.
thats like having a game such as quake2 and saying you lost the CD Key.....

No, it's not. Knowing someone elses CD key would let me play their game without buying it, and possibly disable them from being able to use it.

Knowing someone elses barcode and using it in submission of the recall wouldn't stop them from being able to use their PS2 in any way, shape, or form. The only thing it would do is stop them from being able to use their own barcode to do the recall - which is why I said "ie if your AC adapter isn't recalled or if you just don't care."
Knowing someone elses barcode won't allow me to claim ownership of that PS2 or anything like that.
