Um is my cpu fried if it has a dark black mark to the right of the processor?

Um i dont know how this happened i turned it on and no post!!!!! took off the heatsink and there wa sa dark mark on the right of the cpu everything was on right. I dont have a second comp to test it in so.
P.S. when i turn on the cpu there is no display upon my monitor however the keyboard flashes quickly which i think is a sign that its not fried.

If there's any sort of black marks, I would venture a guess that you've fried your CPU.

You can get some basic activity with a somewhat fried CPU. I got the post screen to flash for a split second everytime I tried to start an old fried K3-450 system.

From my experience, you won't get a POST or anything if the cpu is fried, although the keyboard might light up once.

Heck, try turning on the computer without the CPU (that's safe, right?) and see if you get the same symptoms.

When the processor is in it sounds like it is trying to access the hard drive it isnt just spiining up but actually searching. I have no way of telling this because my gpu is also gone. I think my mobo is bad too!!! this is bad w/o the kid who knows and has another test bed for me to test this stuff in!!!
