i received my k8v se deluxe (rma-ed from asus)
and put my computer together

bios 1005
k8vse deluxe
amd64 3200+ (zalman 7000alcu hsf)
bfg 6800gt
corsair pc3200LLPT (cas 2-2-2-6)
thermaltake purepower 420
nec-3500
seagate 160 (7200 rpm, 8mb, master)
maxtor 160 (same stats, slave)
leadtek win2000 deluxe (tv tuner)

thats all i've got plugged in....oh and its all in a chieftec case

i keep receiving irql_not_equal_or_less errors during windows INSTALLATION. I don't know what the hell to do....i keep having problems with asus mobos, maybe i should try another brand. But before i get to that point, please help me with any information possible!

I received that error during an installation due to a bad stick of RAM. Try running memtest to verify if it is bad ram. Even if it comes back OK try swapping the memory.

You can also receive that error from bad drivers. Try to install windows with the bare minimum hardware installed.. i.e. remove the TV Tuner and the extra hard drive and add them after installation.

I'd vote also for bad RAM. Use a single stick of RAM, or use the "compatibility" settings in BIOS.

Also, to eliminate potential intrusion issues during your install, keep your machine off the internet entirely (pull that cord) and after the initial setup, make sure you have a firewall active.

Nowadays machines can be compromised in minutes.
