Um...Cisco > iPhone?

$$$$$$$$$$$

start trademarking everything that starts with an i, like iphone, idisk, ilink, ihost

apple will pay big muchOo!!

Looks like Cisco planned for this.

my legal knowlegde of trademark law is non existent but the way I look at it:

its been rumored for awhile apply has been working on a phone.

Linksys had that wifi phone thingy in development and prolly wasn't going to use thier old iphone trademark but they prolly figured it would strengthen there legal position if they did use that name on that product just incanse apply did go with the iphone name.

Jobs didn't think about this ahead of time? 😕

There were talks about Apple acquiring the rights to the name, but still went ahead before finalizing the contract.

Cisco is suing Apple over i-Phone.
Why didn't Apple call it i-Fone or i-Cell?

I actually thought Apple was kinda lame with the name on this one. They didn't call their other products "IAudioPlayer", "Ilaptop" or "Imusicstore". They should have used a slightly more obscure noun, like "ICall" or "ITalk" (which I would like to declare my trademark on immediately!).

Call and Talk sure are obscure nouns. 😕
