Search engine register...is that required, or are meta keyword descriptions enough?

I've registered my site with many searchengines, and have places many keyword descriptions in my meta tags, but the page still doesnt seem to be coming up in the search results.

Is there anything else I need to do?
Or is there a way to make my site return as the top of the list?

It takes time for search engines to update

Search engines take many things into account..including site popularity. The more people linked to you, the better listing you get.

Also, you won't get listed if you meta tag spam.

Do your META tags for description and keywords AND submit to the search engines.

Robots are too slow to depend on METAs alone.
