Hiya Guys, just posting up my 'upcoming PC'...any suggestions or add-ons i should get?

Processer: AMD 3000+ 939

Mobo: Abit AV8 (thinking i can overclock em both, hopefully not too hard...)

Ram: Not too sure here...Im thinking cheap cosair or kingston twin dual ram...suggestions welcome

DVD Writer: NEC 3500A (I already this, so decided to stick with it.)

DVD-rom: Any old cheapo one will do. 🙂

Floppy: Ditto as above.

HDD: Thinking 120gigs Seagate SATA drive...

Video Card: I wanna get that BFG 6800oc...but im in canada...so i can't get one for that price! T.T

prolly going to throw in an extra fan and the thermal right xp-90...

So any other suggestions would be welcomed!

Thanks!
Mike

Looks good - ecept don't go for seagate. Try a Western Digital 120, and get an ATI card - the 9800 pro is seriously awesome in price right now.

err? Dont go seagate? Reason?

Looks good to me.

Apotherix:
WD: noisy, 3-yr warranty max.
Seagate: reasonably quiet, 5-yr warranty for all drives. Slightly more expensive, but an easy choice, IMO.
Performance is pretty close with the newer drives.

hmm, so should i got with the 9800 pro? it seems like a good card. 🙂
At least it will save me the 4 hour drive to seattle and back to get a 6800 oc 😛

Oh ya, im going to get a cool master case with a 320 watt psu...do u guys think thats enough?

How much is the 6800 oc youre looking at? I don't know about a 320W coolermaster psu, their 350w psu only has 16amps on the +12v rail. I would feel safer with something rated higher, but it could probably handle your system.

As for the memory, go with the corsair value or maybe even pdp partriot ram. Other than that, looks good to me.

Well, the 6800 oc is only $250 usd at best buy...so about 300 canadian.
Right now on this side of the border it's 400+ canadian.
Maybe I'll stick to my 5200FX...even tho it's pretty sucky...

I believe it is illegal to use a 5200FX with any AMD 64. You had better check the performance choke laws in your local municipality. (Yes, I am joking; please no flames about me trying to steal the thread)

The 9800 Pro is a great medium road to go. I also run into upgrade quandry issues. What do I get to pair with what else at certain price points. It is tricky.

if your building this system for gaming. dont go with the 9800pro. get an 6800oc or gt.. i'm not to thrilled with my 9800pro on cs:source

9800pro @ stock
3dmark03 - 5949
3dmark05 - 2450

Even the plain 6800, or the 6600GT (silly, no AGP...), would suit you better than a 9800 Pro.

Get the 6800oc since the pro is still around $200usd. The 6800 is even faster than a 9800xt. For $250usd, the 6800 would offer you much more performance/price.
