Ultra66 bios problem after XP pro install...

Since I did a fresh install of XP pro when booting up I will get "Bios not installed" as the Promise Ultra 66 loads up.. then I will get "Operating system not found" and I have to hit ctrl/alt/delete and then when it reboots all is fine and it loads into XP.. this happens frequently and only started after loading XP.. It doesn't happen all the time, probably 40% or the time.. Has anyone found a update for the Ultra 66 card's bios or drivers that could correct this problem?? I have a Dell XPS T 650r desktop with with 512mb of sdram and I also upgraded my PIII 650r to a 1000ghz chip a year ago, I did update the bios for my mother board (Intel Corp. A09) before installing the new 1gig chip.. I tried reseating the card, moved it to a different slot, cleaned all the connections and reseated them and still no luck..it is a hit and miss problem but it is annoying..

From Promise:

The only reason that the Ultra66 BIOS will not install is if it doesn't detect a HDD. If you don't have a HDD connected to our card, connect one. If you do, check the HDD jumper settings and cabling. If your HDD is from WD, and it's the only device on the cable, remove ALL the jumpers from the HDD. If the problem still exists, contact tech support with the following information. What are the HDDs that you're using with the Ultra66? What is the jumper setting on each HDD? What is the version of the BIOS on the Ultra66? Make sure the HDDs on the Ultra66 are defined as "None" or "Not Installed" in the CMOS. Are the cables that you're using with the Ultra66 18" or less? Try switching the PCI slot that the Ultra66 is in. Try resetting the configuration data in the CMOS. This is usually an option in the PnP section of the CMOS. The only available settings for this option will be "Enabled" and "Disabled". Set it to "Enabled", save and exit, and reboot.

There is absolutely nothing new here, the HD, the Ultra66 card and all cables are stock which came on my Dell PC when I bought it 2 years ago... I reset the config in the bios(Enable).. The HD is a IBM, there is no need to change jumpers ect.. the only thing that did change was going to XP Pro.. I did submit a problem report with Promise days ago with all info concerning my PC, bios versions ect.. but have not heard a thing from them as of yet...

Good luck hearing from them. I have had both an Ultra 66 and a tx-100 from Promise, and both exhibit the same behavior on my motherboard in both Win98 and WinXP. Whenever I do a warm boot (shutdown/restart from the shutdown menu on the OS), only one of my two hard drives will detect. I have to do another ctrl-alt-del to get them both to detect. So, in a sense, you're not alone. However, they never answered my trouble report, and I had to fill out all kinds of information on their report page!
