ULTRA100 TX2 PCI UDMA100 CONTROLLER?

I'm thinking of adding this to my AK31v31, but have not had any experience with these controllers.

Openlinx.net has the ULTRA100 TX2 PCI UDMA100 CONTROLLER for $29 w/cable.

Is this the one I want? I don't need RAID as I only have one drive.

Will there be a considerable, that is noticeable, increase in performance?

Should I expect any problems installing/using this card?

I have an ATA100 IBM 75GXP.

Thanks

not familiar with that mobo, but that is a darn god price for a tx2. i have one, but for RAID-0. i dont think you will notice a big increase, as very few drives/situations even come close to 66MB/s

I have a Promise TX2 on an Intel L440GX+ ServerBoard running 66mhz PCI. The card works great on it. I have Maxtor drives in this system, but I have used the IBM 75GXP on those controllers without issue. Though I do recommend that you shut off write cache.

But do you think there would be any performance increase over the on-board ATA100 controller on my motherboard?

I don't have a RAID setup. I was just wondering if the card would outperform the motherboard ATA100 controller.

i highly doubt that you would notice any difference. the only way you would if you did not have ANY other drives hooked up as slave/master to it since all devices on an ide chain operate at the buss speed of the slowest drive connected to it.
