The Ultra X3 750 Watt, 1000 Watt, 1600 Watt, and a rumored 2000 Watt model coming down the line. Other companies are still sitting back at 1000-1200 Watts. Agreed no one needs this kind of wattage, but it is still the fact Ultra is selling a 1600 Watt PSU for 480$ on Xoxide that is benched at 80% load at 45C with extremely low ripple, even server grade ripple. I knew Ultra has been doing alot better since there old years of those crappy X series that put out 400 Watts but at 25C, otherwise it fried at like 225 Watts.

So anyone got some info on these guys? Love the looks, love the modular, considering picking up a 750 watt for my next rig.

Wow Ultra has come a along way. I thought at first when I saw 1600 Watts that it was like Aspire saying their unit could do 650 watts, just on a much larger scale. But I see now not only can it do it, but it can do it at extemely high temperatures. Ultra seems to really have a chart topping line up, I wonder why they seem to fail the recommended list. I never see anyone saying, "Get an Ultra X3". But those numbers don't lie, that's solid stability at very high wattages.

There's something vaguely familiar-looking about the modular ports on that PSU. And those black ribbon modular cables. I've only seen that type of ribbon cable on one other brand of PSU.

Corsair uses similar cables, but ultra was using the flat ribbon-type cables before Corsair even started making PSUs.

Ultra was making modular PSU's long before any other company period. Thier PSU's were just unreliable to start with which is probably why they aren't being recommended yet, they have to erase the name they started for themselves which can take a long time or more than 1 or 2 good products before they work thier way back into daily convo's.

Oh, I owned the neon green Ultra X-Connect 500w psu and powered a highly oc'd AXP rig with a BFG 6800GT OC @ Ultra speeds without a problem, then I went on to power a OC'd Dell E521 with a 7900GTX with an Ultra X2 Connect 550w with no problem, would I recommed them to anyone yet ? Probably not.

I just got the Ultra X-Pro 600W today. Seems to be nice. We'll see how it works with my new build.

I remember someone else (JonnyGuru?) making a similar comment about the appearance of the Corsair cables, and how they looked a lot like the ones on Ultra PSUs. I know I was a little baffled by the ribbon cables on the Corsairs when I first saw them, and wondered where in the hell they came up with that design. It's pretty obvious now, looking at pics of the Ultra.

Might just be me, but it seems like way too much of a coincidence for Corsair to have just pulled that design out of thin air, especially when just about every other modular PSU out there uses sleeved round cables.

Corsair is prob leasing the patent for the Flex-Force cables because anyone that has used the Flex-Force cables knows they are a dream to work with. I fn love those highly maneuverable cables :) They double back on themselves with no loops at the folds, they tuck behind mobo trays, they even tuck in that ultra tight space between the case and 5" bays o_O. You show me a rouinded sleeved cable that can do that and I'll show u the one cable supperior to the Flex-Force cables. Corsair was smart to use Flex-Force if that is indeed what they did.

I have to admit, those weird-looking ribbon cables have grown on me since I first saw them. I have mine folded up, taped together, and stored behind one of my shallow depth front bay devices. The way my cube case is laid out, the modular PSU ports point straight into the back of second drive bay, and you see almost no PSU cables whatsoever.

There won't be a 2kw X3 in the US in the near future as the UL denied that unit until it was capped at 1600w DC and it ended up being the unit in the review.

Also, I didn't run it at just 80% I ran the unit at full load as well which you can see in the video. The 80% was for 8 hours. I ran it at 100% for an hour.

The X-Pro 750 is a Seventeam unit not an Andyson. There is an X3 800w though....

The newer Ultra`s are all getting good reviews and all appear to be fine PSU`s!!

YEs-- Dazed and Confused - It wouldn`t suprise me if Corsair did have some sort of agreement with the Ultra people concerning their cables!!

Peace!!
