Ultra X3 question

Hey,

I had a quick question. I just bought the EVGA FTW board and I had an old 1000w Ultra X3 power supply. The EVGA FTW board has a second 8 pin connector on it to supply additional power, and the Ultra X3 only has 1 dedicated 8 pin for the mobo. Does the 6 to 8 pin PCI-E cable supply the same amount of power and is it safe to use on the mobo.

Any thoughts appreciated.

No it is not safe to use..the polarity on the cables is completely opposite and the connector should not even fit in the slot.

You shouldn't need the second connector anyways unless you're doing liquid nitrogen or helium for extreme benching.

It's got 2 connectors to support their claim of a 600W power delivery system to the CPU.
(Don't know if anyone actually managed to fully test it out)
