Is anyone running this psu with SLI? I am going to be getting a 6800 ultra soon and probably later down the road I will throw another in. Is the 500 watts good enough for 2 ultras? Also does it have the connectors for sli?

There are at least a dozen threads on the ATF about the X-connect. Don't do it! Check the thread about PSUs on the HardForum.com ...

I decided I'm going to go with the 520 watt mod stream. Found it for $117 shipped at Monarch. The x-connect not having pci-e or 24 pin turned me off from it. Thanks for the heads up!

Well even though i would highly advise that you not get the X-Connect, it does come with a PCI-E connector.

The X-Connect is for flashy entry level, only slightly better than Thermaltake.

that ocz 520w modstream only has 26a on the 12v rail. from everything i have read that is not enough for sli. i would think this ocz powerstream or this enermax would be more appropriate with 33a and 36a on the 12v rails.

I currently have a 500W Ultra running an OC'd mobile Athlon and a BFG 6800Ultra OC AGP card. It's more than enough power for my system and I've always been happy with it. However, I'm planning on building an SLI system, and I'm going to go for the PC Power and Cooling Turbo cool 510 SLI deluxe, just to make sure my bases are covered.

Im going for the modular design though...I am only overclocking my cpu, the graphics cards will stay the same.

Yes but remember you're talking about Ultras. One of these cards requires a 480W PSU. If you want to be powering two AND OC'ing your processor, you might need more. If you insist on using a modular PSU, then stick with the Ultra X-Connect by all means. This PSU at least has 34A on the 12V rail, I'm just not sure it's enough to power two 6800 Ultras.

I was reading around and it should be sufficient. Only problem with the X-connect is that it doesnt have a 24 pin power cable, would I have to buy an adaptor for it?

Yeah, you'll need an adapter. Don't quote me on this, but if you contact Ultra they may send you the 20pin to 24pin adapter for no charge if you can give them evidence of proof of purchase. They sent me a free sata cable because I bought my Ultra PSU before they were pre-packaged with them. It's worth a try anyway. The worst they can do is say no and you'll have to pay for one.
