id like to be able to install i guess ultraVNC on each computer at my mom's house.. incase they need my help and i cant go over there..

ive set it up on mine. but they have at least 3-4 pc's in the house. now would i port forward each ip address with a differnt port. or is it not possible?

Set up VNC on each of the computers to listen to a different port, then forward that port on the router to the internal IP address of the computer using that port. Then, on your computer, enter your mom's public (Internet) IP address and the port number of the computer you want to connect to.

For example, if computer 1 at her house is using port 5950, and her public IP address is 4.5.6.7, you would put 4.5.6.7:5950 in the VNC Viewer connection window to connect to computer 1.

Yes. You would forward a port to each PC and then connect with IP and port #. I'm not sure how UVNC handles that but it should work.

its possible, as per what others have replied. but if their router craps out or has to be defaulted for some reason, youre screwed later if they need help because the port settings are gone.

logmein is a good alternative. they each setup a client on their pc under an account and you can choose which pc to log in to. i did this for my family when i lived away and they needed help, because it was the easiest to set up, so keep it in mind.

like VNC server???

After discovering LogMeIn, VNC is dead to me.. so to speak. Look into it, its so easy to manage multiple machines, and its web interface is incredibly well laid out. If i was on the same LAN, VNC might be a better option for the speed, but over the internet LogMeIn is almost a no brainer for its simplicity and features.
