sorry no experience with ultra vnc, but assuming your using this on windows boxes, why not just use remote desktop? bump otherwise

wkinney, i work in a high security enviroment so i need something that is very secure and where the users can see what i am doing when they call for support. we use Remote Desktop when we are doing something that doesn't have to be witnessed. like installing software. does any one know of a way to run Remote Desktop where the users can see what is going on also?

I had ultra vnc installed and it was quite buggy with the encryption plugin, to the point where it wouldn't even connect all the time (making it totally unreliable = useless).

For your application I believe there are commercial VNC win solutions that will support encryption. I know of one, just can't remember it at the top of my head.

Put it in the same directory as Ultr@VNC.

Use the NoReg plugin. I could not get the other to work consistently, but have 100% success with the NoReg. The software will not save the setting. At least the RC205 version will not. I have to check the box every time and select it ffrom the drop-down.

Edit: Here's a link for their forums in case you haven't run across them already. Open source software like this is nice, however as usual, various groups or individuals are marching off in slightly different directions. Lot's of different versions out there.
