I know this has been posted before, but I would like to see comments(good or bad) from anyone who bought this notebook.

i bought this laptop for one of my employees, since its very light and has everything onboard.

The good:

56k and 10/100 onboard
cdrw-dvd onboard yet under 4 pounds light
cool looking silverish all around
and for no name brand very very very fast, its surprising how fast this thing is.

The bad:

Lcd screen is dim and dark
keyboard layout is very bad, it will take you months to get used to it.
only one pcmcia slot and no integrated wireless
space and enter keys are like stuck, so you really have to pound on it
no floppy drive

My Short Review Longer Review
Yes, its more expensive than the deals out there but its 4.4lbs with onboard dvd/cdrw.

Pros:
- Extremely affordable for an ultralight
- Onboard DVD / CDRW
- Quiet
- Magnesium Case instead of plastic

Cons:
- Sotec? Popular in Japan but who knows how they?ll do here
- No Svid out. No firewire. No USB 2.0
- Restore cd's instead of software. That means no windvd after formatting to XP Pro
- Keyboard: Keyboard Picture
Whoever designed this thing in Japan obviously doesn?t understand how keyboards should look. The backspace, insert, delete and arrows layout are pretty odd. I am constantly hitting ?end? instead of backspace and ?del? instead of the right arrow. ?PrtSc?, ?Scroll Lock?, ?Num Lock? and ?Pause Break? all get their own dedicated buttons on top while ?F11? ?F12? ?Pg Up? ?Pg Dn? are forced to requiring holding down the ?Fn? in order to work. Pretty ridiculous.

Verdict:
Ultralights arent for everyone. In fact, in this country it seems like they never sell because everyone gets so powerhungry when buying laptops. If you need killer a video card, 40gb, svid out, the latest ports or a huge screen then this definitely isnt for you. But if you arent powermad or you just need a lightweight notebook that you will actually drag around alot then this is perfect and comparable lightweights easily cost twice as much. I like it alot but due to the company behind it then i recommend buying the extended warranty.

Some Reviews @ Edgeworld

A few things to note:
-This is only available online so far and has been for the past few weeks. B&M have yet to stock it and according to BB saleskids then they have no idea what it is

-Sams Club/WalMart have it online and sometimes B&M for $899 but its a different model. Sotec 3123xs which has 30gb instead of 20gb. And for extended warranty folks, Sams Club only charges $59 for the 3 year warranty

-Office Depot sells the 3120x for $949 but they have a 15% off coupon (search google for the link) and a $50 rebate making it roughly the same deal as BB. They charge $100 for a 2 year warranty. <--This is where i got it from and i regret it since OD is suck. Even if unopened they wont take it back for refund.

-Sotec gives free 32mb usb key ($10 shipping) which i just recieved last week. Works as advertised but what i dont like is that it isnt the keychain style key. It has a clip or extremely queer necklace option.

1.3" = ULTRA THIN

some people(like the other 6 billion people on this earth) might argue that.
Wow. Nice attitude.

Maybe its not an ultrathin, but what catagory should these be considered as? Its much lighter and smaller than a regular laptop but fatter than an ultralight and has onboard dvd/cdrw so as an expert i'm sure you can give us a better name for it. 😉 :disgust:
