i got a couple 600 xfinity psus free ar a while back, and one of them just died...

i know, they aren't the greatest psu's but they looked nice in a windowed case and actually had pretty solid rails...

the ls series 600w they sent me (actually charged me to do a cross ship, but shipping the old psu back and the new psu to me was free) is sure a lighter weight unit, not nearly as pretty, and only has one 32 amp rail and one pcie 6 pin connector... it is quieter with it's 120cm fan, tho...

i sent them an email and got a response that they don't do the xfinity any more (but they are all over their web site) and this is what i get...

not quite like when i rma'd a couple ti4200 vid cards and got 6600's in return since the 4200's were long gone...

anyone else running into this??? seems like a downgrade to me... i'm a little annoyed...

Kind of depends on what X-finity you had, they had several 600W models.

The LS series sucks...no doubt about that. The 600W is apparently a re-labled 500W. Even the 500W rating is at 25C instead of 40C.

I know Ultra had quite a few bad units in the past, so I wouldn't have bought them, even after MIR's. I don't think the LS model is very good either, but that is just my honest opinion. 32A on the 12v rail isn't too bad, but not sure how the quality of the PSU is, so time will tell on that.

the Corsair VX450 is capable of 33A of 12V output.....and rated 150W lower. 32A is horrible for a 600W unit.

Quality isn't so great...like I said, it is overrated by a ton.

Yeah haven't read too much positive reviews of the Ultra branded PSU's. This might have changed recently, don't know for sure since I don't usually even look at Ultra in general. I'd rather have a quality PSU, like PCP&C, Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, & FSP over a cheaper off brand. Don't get me wrong, I've had my fair share of cheap PSU's and have had mixed results from them. This was all before I got "knowledgeable" about PSU's. I'm not an expert by any means, but I've read enough and experienced quite a bit to make a pretty informed decision about the quality of a PSU. There are other brands that do a decent job (usually made by someone else) of building a PSU, but the ones I listed above will give you a fighting chance at a good quality unit. Usually if a PSU has a 3yr or greater warranty you might have a quality PSU. Not that the warranty guarantees a quality part, but it definately does help. I've had a very positive experience with Antec PSU's, so I generally like to buy them. I've had 2 PSU's in the past that needed warranty work and I didn't have any return issues with either of them.
Well I think I've ranted on a bit, but hopefully I've helped in some way.

Ultra's X3 line is good...although I still wouldn't buy from them just because of some of the crap they have pulled. FSP's quality has slipped a lot. I think they are trying to get themselves back on track, but it is a slow process. Hopefully they haven't managed to ruin 3 companies (FSP, 3Y and Sparkle) all owned by Fortron Source Group.
