id avoid ram that isnt by a brand name i trust. i've had my fair share of ram induced computer problems and decided it wasn't worth the trouble to save that extra few bux.

Agreed. And small memory problems can be some of the most annoying and hardest to track down.

Does anyone know if this PC3200 (or even PC2700, for that matter) RAM will ramp down to work in a mobo that has a 266Mhz FSB (normally takes PC2100)?

What brand names do you trust? Both of my cheap ass PNY memory sticks from CC appear to be bad. Took me forever to figure out with some help from people at anandtech. None of the memory checking programs could find anything. But I would get a lot of file corruptions and bad downloads. Anything that's moderately big would be a bad download. Windows xp getting corrupted bit by bit, it got to the point where I can't even install anything from cds any more cus half way through it gives me a crc error. This has been going on for like 9 months already.

I don't know much about memory brands and would appreciate a suggestion. It wouldn't hurt if memory is fast too. Could've saved a lot of trouble by paying goood money for good brand in the first place.

Thanx.
