I saw this just as I was about to pull the trigger on the $60 Haf922 deal.

I thought about it a long time because that is a very nice looking case. What bothered me is that it has been out for a couple years, but I could not find any substantive reviews of this case.

It has a 120mm in and a 120mm out and some vents on the side, but I don't think it has the air flow of a current model enthusiast case. If that is not important, and you like the looks, it's probably a great deal.

I just can't help but wonder if they have sold ANY of those for ~$300

it is pretty old as far as cooling theory goes, you are mostly paying for the motherboard tray and psu connects. the back pane has a bunch of molex extensions built in to the tray that allow you to clean up your wiring. only works if you have a psu with really short cables and some short ide cables. all 4pin molex, 2x 6pin pcie, and no sata connects shows how old it really is.

I actually spoke with someone who used to work for Ultra and he said that these eXo cases were originally supposed to be used in high end Systemax builds, not sold as stand-alone empty cases. They probably didn't sell well, so are just dumping these cases.

I don't get why it was EVER expensive

The manufacturing cost was probably pretty high because a lot of the structure was cast aluminum, plus these eXo cases was a custom one-off design from scratch. Most cases on the market share similarities to other cases, plus are rather generic in design. This helps reduce R&D costs and increased volume reduces manufacturing costs.

Hmmm... nice looking case, except for the lame front-to-back orientation of the drive bays.

I just don't understand why case makers continue to inflict the crappy practice of forcing us to jam our hard drives over expansion cards and cable ports. I've got a Gigabyte iSolo case, and an CoolerMaster Ammo Case, both have the nice "sideways" oriented drive bays.

With "front-to-back" - you will likely NOT be able to fit 5 drives into the case, because not al those slots will be usable, depending on the motherboard you use.

...otherwise, it's a very nice looking case.

i'm tempted by this, but in the end i don't feel like it would really bother me to just get an antec 300. it's more compact and pretty much has all the features i want. if this was free shipping i might bite. it's definately a nice case for under a hundred bucks.
