I tried installing the 7800gtx onto the first PCIe slot, but the card is somewhat in the way of the motherboard fan. Is it safe to install the card there anyway?
 
Yes, that is normal. If you want to be safe, move the jumpers and have 8x/8x lanes and install the card on the 2nd PCI-E slot.
 
I don't think I want to mess with the jumpers yet... so if I install it on the first PCIe slot, will it cause any heat problems?
