Review: http://www.epinions.com/content_299245145732

Hack: http://johntam.com/tiki-index.php?page=Mio+c310x+GPS

Side note: I just moved to Seattle from D.C., so I actually do not know any place at all.
(imagine I am heavily rely on GPS right now) Anyhow, I did the side-by-side comparison with Garmin C330, I found Mio C310x to be more accurate and faster. (mount both devices on my windshield) C310x load w/ Tele Atlas' August 2006 map version. New 2007 version should be out during the spring.

New SiRFstar III is indeed faster with 20 channel, 12 Satallite link. (yes, you can even monitor each individual satallite's signal strength)

Con: UI is bit confusing.. took me whole day to get use to it! (maybe because it also got more function...such as browse-able map, adjustable view angle, multi-des routing, etc...)
Battery life on GPS tracking is about 100 min w/ full charge.
Garmin C330 actually last around 160 min.

Both can be charge w/ USB cable.

***** with zikronix's coupon , you might able to get it for $159!!!! ******

I got mine from CC in the mail yesterday. Great little unit. Got the 'basics' installed for the hacks.

The ability to view MPG4 and make it a full blown WinCE PDA sold me, neat!

I haven't messed with it yet, but it may be possible to run NavTeq based GPS software on this unit as well as the included TeleAtlas maps.

$199 is a steal.

Since this is so hackable, does anyone know or has anyone seen if this can function as a chart plotter with proper software? In other words, I would like to use this on the water for navigation as well. Thanks much!

well the tomtom stuff...im sorry just want as intuitive as the MioMap (iGO) maps wernt any better. Now regarding the iGuidance i need to play with it some more. But while the mapset seems better the user interface is one of those things that wont work for my fiancee. She needs its as less confusing as possible. The other problem is with the iguidance the screen size is smaller because of all the crap.

Quite true!
For simplicity, my wife insist on Garmin's UI.

Im still playing with the I guidance...I see its potnetial...but meh....who knows. Garmin is good dont get me wrong....but garmin also isnt a 150.00 GPS

one thing i think I would use I guidance for though is the ability to load topo maps so when im out farting around huting then i can find my way back.
