Ultra ATA133 vs Ultra ATA100 on P4P800

Ok, in my previous thread I was looking for something to allow me to use a third SATA HD, and I found very helpful advice. However, I think I would just rather return the SATA and get a regular HD as I'm running low on PCI slots and it'd be a bit cheaper/hassle free.

I have a P4P800, but I can't even remember if I got the deluxe or not. I'll have to see about that, does anyone know how to tell the difference? I heard that the deluxe supports Ultra ATA133 while the non deluxe only supports ultra ATA100.

Can I purchase an Ultra ATA133 HD even if I have the non-deluxe version? Like will it run at 100? The reason I ask is that the DiamondMax 10 is 133 but has 16MB cache. The next cheapest ATA100 is $3 cheaper and with 8MB cache. I'd like the 16MB if I could.

Thanks!

Hmm, well I found a sticker on the inside of the parallel port that says P4P800 DELUXE - UAY, so I guess that's that....

In case I'm wrong though, would a 133 work? Newegg wont allow refunds on this one so I gotta be sure.

ATA133 is Backward compatible with ATA100-66-33.. So Yes you buy the 133 and if your board onyl runs it at 100 ohwell.. its just 33mhz...
