Link is dead apparently, I searched for the PS and not sure if the one listed on thier site works with the rebate anymore.

I don't think they have the psu on their website any more. I searched for "ultra 600w" and came up with 3 power supplies, none of which were the x-finity.

"There are 48 of them on eBay though."

To this day I can't explain why that pisses me off so, but it just does.

I actually had one of these in my hand Friday, walking through checkout @ Fry's -=- and that gag reflex set in...

I couldn't buy this PSU, even @ $9.99

I know it sounds silly, but the packaging was so crappy & cheap, it made me wonder about the quality of the PSU!

Hope I don't regret leaving 'home' without it... :D

Anyway, PSUs with dual 80s are usually V quiet. If you want 'quiet' that's the way to go, IMHO.

I've had good luck with both their rebates and their PS. I have one of the 400 watt units running a 3 gig P4 thats on 24/7 and a 500 watt running a 6300 with a 7900 gt, 1 500 gig seagate hd, 1 ide burner and a sata burner on 24/7 without a problem. Both was free after rebate.

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. It's actually a pretty high-quality unit, regardless of the packaging. It's worth at least $9.99+tax:)

Mine arrived yesterday. I haven't opened it up yet but it sure is one heavy thing if that means anything.

gag reflex??? you should probably have that looked at
It does sound silly; the packaging was fine and the PSU was very heavy and impressive looking (near mirror finish chrome)
flame on!

Can someone confirm if the fan spins when turned on -- AND when the psu's cables aren't connected to anything?

I don't have a mobo to test it with right now, so I just plugged the power cable into it and flipped the power switch....
I was expecting the fan to at least spin, but nothings happening.

I'm hoping that it's 'smart' enough to not draw power if it's not connected to anything, but would like to verify with someone here -- just to make sure I don't have a dud.

Thanks-
TTown

Without plugging the power supply into a motherboard, the fans will not spin. Power supplies are electronic now and are controlled by the motherboard, not like the old AT power supplies. You can turn it on manually to test it by using a power supply tester or shorting it out with a paperclip as well.

So no, you don't have a dud, you just have to wait until you hook it up to your new motherboard. :)

Thanks! I totally forgot about that. I guess I was a little drowsy last night, since I didn't make that connection myself.
When I went to bed, I turned off 2 PC's I had running. 1 was a recent build, the other was a very old machine -- and I said to myself "...this one I have to really turn off..." as I pressed the power button.
Thanks again.

I just got my notification about my rebate check being mailed but the email says it is for $60, not the $65 amount on the form I sent in. Anybody else get this?

The Fry's rebate is 65.00, the zipzoomfly rebate is 60.00. I got emails on both today myself with the correct amounts listed
