Got in for 1. I need it to get back my lower 4 hard drive slots in my P180. That modular Ultra V-series' wires are a PAIN.

As far as I know, hard drives don't draw that much power, so it should be more than enough to power a typical PC. If you want to make sure, try using one of these power-supply calculators:

eXtreme Calculator
Zippy Calculator

I must give credit to Johnnyguru's website for these links.

Hard drives are like fans, not really anything to worry about unless you have 5-10 of them. They just might give you a little trouble on start-up, they pull a lot more to spin up than they do to just run, but it's still not much.

I'm planning to run this with an E6600, 8800GTS 320, 3 hard drives for now and another 3 later. Also 4 120mm fans. It's all running on a 500W Ultra V-Series now so I figure this can only be an upgrade. Same 29A 12V rail.

Oh, and I've gotten 2 ultra rebates w/o issue... Microfly case and 400watt power supply.... Amazing they can stay in business...

While a case with a door may be stupid to you.......some actually like the smooth look and hiding the optical drives the doored case provides. After all, if you are not using your opticals every 5 seconds, a door is no problem at all, esp. the aluminum versions which tend to be quite sturdy.

But, to each his own. :)

Actually the reviews I read said that if you had a "Beast" videocard, you should pop in other stuff like HDDs because apparantly it does much better at higher loads.

Speak of the Devil it JUST arrived..

AND GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR AT DHL FREAKING IDIOTS.

Instead of walking up the stairs which I can CLEARLY hear (I didn't hear footsteps so I'm assuming he didn't walk up)

he TOSSES THE BOX up here and it smacked my door with a LOUD THUNK.

If this thing doesn't work I'm going to kill them.

Why do people in the shipping industry treat packages like nerf footballs?

DOH!

Tell me the retail box is at least inside a brown box with packing material?

I can't tell you how many times I've received power supplies where someone just slapped a label on the retail box and shipped it.

I can't tell you how many DEAD power supplies I've received that were shipped in a retail box with a label slapped on it. :(

Got mine today too!! for what its worth it states on teh box a 79% efficiency at typical load and 73% at full. granted that is max efficiency so i guess Ill have to look back at the previous posts to see if actual readings were taken and posted online.

okay.. wow,

that was really gay? free shipping now? I just blew 7 some dollars ^.^ for nothing -.-

The word, "gay" means happy. In contemporary usage, it also refers to homosexuality. It is NOT a generalized negative adjective. Such usage only promotes homophobic stereotypes and bigotry.

We have many good, contributing members who happen to be gay. Who they are is not your business, but you may not continue to post such verbal abuse on our forums. Doing so again may be reason to suspend your posting privileges.

me and my brother ordered last night so I called frys today and kindly asked Rep. James if we could get a ship refund since we ordered last night, but he said I should just refuse it. I called later after an SDer got the refund request approved by having the rep check with supervisor... and got Rep. Andy to do same for me and my brother- ok. So if anyone ordered yesterday try to get a shipping refund...

I gotta love Ultra, they just give cases and PSU's away annually after rebate. And I've never had a problem with their rebates either, so another PSU for me!
