Kingmax is a good name brand.

The Ultra RAM is ok, too...it has Elixir chips on it (at least, the sticks I got the other day). I would pass on this deal, though, since for $100 you can Geil, Kingmax, Kingston and other brands in 1 gig packs.

How do you get under $100 for two if it's 1 rebate per household?

Also you forgot to include those two magic words in your title--Tiger Direct. :|

I'm pretty sure that Kingmax is one of the brands sold by Kingston. Now... which "level" it is, whether top of the line or budget-value, I have no clue.

I see that too. From my experience, the bottom usually hangs around for long enough to nab some good deals. And after prices start back up, sometimes you can get rebate deals from companies with excess stock they bought at low prices.

Both my brother and I both tried the Ultra RAM (from Tiger Direct) and it crashed our systems. Ultra says its guarenteed compatible but so far we have tried 4 or 5 sticks with the same result. We both have Asus Nforce2 boards so maybe Ultra has issues with these boards. If you are seriously considering buying the Ultra RAM you should check Ultra's website to check the memory timing. If I recall, it wasn't that great.

Kingmax manufactures their own chips, I doubt they have anything to do with Kingston. I've only used a pair of Kingmax PC2700 256 mb sticks, but they run at PC3200 speeds at default voltage. This was a couple years ago.

Maybe just isolated incidents, but I'll pass on the elixir chips...the only RAM problems I ever had involved sticks with this brand of chips (in an Epox nF2 8rda board) running at all-stock speeds.
