ultra 160 low burst rates

just upgraded to ultra 160 card from LSI and an IBM 15k drive. my burst rates are around 60 megs/sec in hdtach. using an 8kha+ from epox which uses the kt266a chipset from via, so i immediately suspected the pci latency bug which is so well known. so i applied the 0.19 latency patch that's been floating around, no go. still around the same. i've also tried the promise via latency fix, but still the same. i've tried the latest 4in1's as well. any ideas? the card comes up with detecting my hard disk as u160, so i'm not sure what the problem is now. thanks
