I can't believe you paid that much for a cable! Yikes! You should try pricewatch or something man. Anything more than $10 is too much to pay for a computer cable.

cables

Unfortunately, not all of us live in the same areas these computer stores on pricewatch are located 😉

wow that threat shure helped,,,i would have saved 10 bucks ,,,,,any word on wether there is a noticable difference on using generic scsi cables

I believe the LVD cables are terminated. A Single-Ended (SE) cable won't work (or might work, but in a "downshifted" / slower / less efficeint mode).

$40.00 for an LVD cable isn't a bad price.

I could be wrong ... it's been a while since I played SCSI.

FWIW

apearently you dont have much experience with lvd terminated scsi cables. these are not your everyday flat ribbon cables that you use for lvd.

anyways, as long as your cable is built to spec (dont see any reason why it would not be), [and action comp. is a good place, been there many times for various things] there should be no difference between the one you have and the adaptec one. heck, they may even have been made by the same factory. how many scsi cable manufactures could there be 😛

Make sure the cable has decent insulation, and wrapping around the wires. LVD cables are usually crosshatched (interwoven) and some really cheap cables will have the plastic wrapping break at some point.
