I can deal with the hair (having so little of it as I do); it's the patchouli stink and Birkenstocks that drive me out of the room. And I grew up in the 60s.

i would get it buzzed at a black barber shop and have them shave a mural into the back of my head.

funny, i've never been able to chastise a boss for being a fat, ugly, greasy, offensive retard.

i worked at a shop once where they fired a $8/hr oil change kid for having a fauxhawk.

fuck our country.

I wouldn't be surprised if OP didn't know how to dress properly either, as a lot of people that I've met or seen who had long hair dressed rather sloppily.

We can all make up anecdotal evidence.

Speaking of which, I knew many guys that had normal hair and dressed rather sloppily.

Was that before or after everyone discovered Metallica's songs weren't worth paying for?

Not sure, I discovered it too late (after Load was released rather than before), and I wasted like $12 or so, I was in High School at the time, so $12 was a lot of money (was making close to min wage!)

Yeah, but most guys don't have long hair, so the actual number of sloppily dressed short hair guys will obviously be higher since the population is a lot larger than long haired sloppily dressed guys. But % wise, more long-haired guys will be dressed poorly.

Cool story, bro. Just having long hair won't make you dress sloppily or act like an asshole.

At work, the dress code states the minimum dress as pants (no jeans, no shorts), shoes (no gym shoes, no sandals), and polo shirt.

Most of the "long hair" people wear long sleeve collared shirts, most of the short hair or no hair people meet the minimum standard.

I bet you're a Republican who goes to church on Sunday then spends the rest of the week fucking over your fellow man.

When I was a Property Manager I had both long hair and a goatee (still do) and it didn't hamper me from getting clients. Of course I had to dress business casual. I use to work around a bunch of Real Estate Agents that use to dress to the nines and they always looked like a bunch of con artist..well being a Real Estate Agent is kind of like being a con artist so I guess they just looked the part.

Never once mentioned that they act like assholes.

I merely stated that from those that I have seen or met, they generally weren't dressed that well. I realize that not every one with long hair is like that, but because I have seen a lot that, I stated that I wouldn't be surprised if OP did dress sloppy.

Depends on where you work. My boss has a nose ring (though not always wearing it), and people wear whatever they want to work. Shorts, sandals, hats, tattoos are not a problem etc. I've worked places where you couldn't go in without wearing dress pants and shirt though, which is common enough in office environments. If they are sticklers about the dress code, you're outta luck. Change your look or change jobs.

What you saw doesn't prove anything. Anyone else can make up that most people with short hair are bad dressers. Do you have an actual argument that isn't a made up story anyone can pull out of their ass?

Dress code at work is Jeans/T-shirt with sandals allowed. Had to throw on the Business Casual because the EVP was in town, and I threw a tie on the long sleeve dress shirt because why the hell not.

Showed up for my interview in a 3 piece and boss was in shorts/sandals. Client meetings are obviously Business Professional.

One thing that does get me is that they could have put me in program with the understanding that I cut the hair if/when I get my own client.

Regardless, ears have been lowered and I'm probably going to try and get back in tomorrow because I let my hair lady have some free reign and she left it a little too long on top and it looks foppish. Was nice at the gym today to not have hair between me and the bar for squats.

I'm not trying to prove anything. I think you're trying to make something out of nothing.

I simply stated my opinion and left it at that. You're the one trying to create some kind "out the ass story".

dumbass. No wonder everyone hates you on here. lol

If you look back at what you wrote, that's exactly what you did. Also, given the fact that your opinion is based on BS, it's irrelevant.

BTW, I'm pretty sure a lot of people here like me. At least I actually contribute something to threads other than BS anecdotal stories.

No offense, but I would have reservations about putting a grown man with a pony tail in front of clients as well. If it was a back office job it would be a different story.

I wouldn't even be considered for my job if I didn't keep up on my physical appearance.

Go ahead and dress like crap for an interview. Looks are always important in anything in life, especially jobs. That's the reason you dress up for interviews.

I didn't make up any "story". I stated my opinion based upon my experiences. Are you mentally retarded?

Everyone wants to be a non-conformist.

Get a job at a smaller company. You'll probably make more money and nobody cares what you look like.

Isn't it cute how the little kids who think they understand how the world works get in a tizzy when more experienced people try to explain to them how the world really works.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that in many corporate settings, you very well may interact with people from other countries. The cultural expectations in many other countries is a clean-cut professional look. Don't like it, then you can be the dumb ass who sets out to change the world. There are a lot of you. Virtually none will ever make it to upper management though.
