Nah, we'll figure something out.

I'm also bringing tools and a saw to loft my bed. I have a place near school out in the country where I can cut lumber up and then haul it up into the dorm and assemble it. Anyone have pics/plans for doing this. I'm pretty sure I have it figured out on what I am doing but anything is helpful.

Oh, and one note - if you're a lifer BEFORE you even get to college, you're in big trouble. 🙂

How the heck do you lock up an lcd? My roomate and me both have 18" dells.
i've got a 19" samsung 191t and i lock it up using a kensington lock/cable - it's the same thing you use to lock notebooks to a desk. i know that on many samsung models, if you look on the back, there'll be a really small rectangular slot with a lock symbol on it as the place to insert the kensington lock. picked one up pretty cheap on ebay and used it throughout last year in the dorms. in hindsight, it was more of a peace of mind issue than stealability problem... laptops are far easier to steal... but sometimes you never know.

dunno if your dell has the proprietary kensington lock on it but since many dell lcd's are samsung rebadges, it might. even if it doesn't, i guess you could just use a generic master lock and cable to thread through some of the openings, but i liked the kensington lock because it was fairly low key and hidden behind my monitor.

Dorm room life sucks. Get your own place.
WTF? I loved dorm life. I wish I still lived there sometimes🙁

All of the random things that goes on in a dorm is great😀

your room is way too small for all the stuff you are bringing
I am living http://www.universitycourtyard.com/newark_flr.asp in a 1427 sq ft apartment / 4 ppl is

356 sqft / person

vs. 78.75 sq ft / person for you and I dont think i am evening bringing that much stuff

also what is the safe for you should keep your money in the bank and carry very little money on you < $20
and I keep my wallet w/ me most of the day

i wouldnt worry that much about the LCD i doubt it would get stolen i just wrap all my power cords / mouse cord / speaker cords all around the base
i would consider a tv tuner card vs. a TV since your room is so small

in my dorm the only thing that ever got stolen was bikes

another suggestion is make sure you get there first so you can bunk the beds and take the bottom one because it is a PITA to get stuck on top IMO

this was what our dorms looked like freshman year http://www.udel.edu/has/loc/russell.html

condoms?.. j/k you can get those for free

anyways... you don't need to be totally prepared.. just be sure to introduce yourself to your neighbors and try to eat out the first night with your floormates

hey its always good to have a starter pack.

From what I have seen droms are very good about not losing power, but they ofter have horrible power. In my dorm freshman year of college our power varied so much that I went through 2 quality PSUs at least because of it. I had a toaster oven and electric burner/ stovetop in my room, great to have if you can get away with it. As for locking the LCD it is probably a good idea, but you will have to drill a hole in it somewhere. Locking kits are made for all of this kind of stuff, but I dont know where to get them.

Do Catholic schools give them out free too? Or will I have to pay for them, or scrounge the hot deals forum for freebies? A week and a half to go, and I can't wait.

How can anyone be excited about being stuck in Indiana?

Nail clippers. You'd be surprised how frustrating it is not to have nail clippers.... unless you're one of those people who bite their nails.

YES! Get Revlon! Best nail clippers I've EVAR had! (I just found them in the house somewhere). But then I broke it since I was looking for pliers but couldn't find any.... so I tried using the Revlon. It didn't work 🙁. Oh well.

Cliffnotes: Revlon nailclippers = l337

Looks good. Couple things to add -

- $2 pair of flip flop sandals to wear into the showers. You REALLY don't want your feet touching the shower floors :Q

- A shower tote to carry your shampoo, soap, razor, washcloth, toothbrush, ect back and forth between your room and the showers

Haha pussy

Damn you are prepared arent you. I have never seen or heard of anyone bringing a safe to school.
