I had a cool :) idea for a controller. I was thinking of a cooling controller that had several zones, just like a home has zones. It would be a small circuit with an LCD and a couple of buttons that could be mounted in a 5 1/2 drive bay front that would control the case fans for the computer.

You would put one or more fans and a temperature sensor in each zone. Example, a HD fan, case fan, video card fan etc. You would then tell it at what tempetature the fan should turn on, and at what temperature the fan should reach max speed. I could even make some of the fan headers driven by PWM which would allow for lower fan speeds without the fan stalling and no heat generated by resistors, hence less noise and a cooler case. Each zone could also have an optional second fan, so when the case started getting very hot, the big 120mm would turn on!

The LCD would be used to view the temperatures of the various zones, which fans were running, what their speeds are etc.

So what do you guys think? Anything I've left out? How many of you would want such a think in kit form if I could make a kit that would do all of this?
