Ultimate 32 to 64

Can I install Vista Ultimate 64 over Ultimate 32 or must I wipe the drive first ? I'm also rebuilding another rig soon, ( the mobo died in that one ), and I have a second copy of Ultimate for that one. It's an upgrade version but it does come with the 64 bit disk in the box. Should I do 2 clean installs or can I get away with installing 64 over the 32 bit in the first instance ? TIA

I don't know if you need to do a clean install, but you might as well anyway, just to get a fresh start. Just make sure you have somewhere to back up files you want to keep. I suggest you do two clean installs with the 64-bit disk, and assuming you have two retail copies, you can use the old 32-bit key to activate one 64-bit installation, and the other key as usual.

I got a copy of 32-bit Ultimate from college, but I was able to use that key to activate a copy of 64-bit Ultimate that I installed with a disk I borrowed from a friend.

You need to do a full install for 64bit, you can't put the 64 disc in to do an upgrade from your 32bit install.
