Ulimate LASIK poll

edit: I did it last Friday the 20th. A couple questions:

1. Did you see perfectly after 3 days?
2. How long until both eyes could see well and weren't incredibly dry
3. Are you cool?

i am too chicken

maybe in a couple more years when they get it really really really really really really really perfect

I just got it done a week ago... So far, I would recommend it. It's awesome to be able to see people's faces from far away without glasses.

i heard that they basicly shave part of the cornia off to correct it, but if i were to get it (im 19) my eyes would still be changing and i would have to get it again later on down the road

almost 3 years now. visx (old tech) still worth it, but pricey. as technology gets better, its quicker and safer.

Found this video in another Lasik post.... It's real similar to how they do it now, but when then cut the top part of your eye, they use this suction device to prevent your eyeball from moving..

LASIK PROCEDURE

oh god, are you completely awake during that?

looks like it would be freaky as hell

it's really not that bad. (During the procedure) They give you a little sedative to calm you down if you need it.

I had my done in Canada about 5 years ago. It was the best thing to ever happen to me.
My sister in law who is an eye doc is actually surprised because she thinks it didn't turn out well, but I'm happy as can be.
Been wearing glasses/contacts since 12, my eye sight right before surgery was 20/1000!!! Now it's 20/20! 🙂

I can see it now....

I had mine done about 5 years ago and have had 20/20 since then. Highly recommend it. It was an extra plus that she was hot too. I definetly do enjoy going back for checkups every now and then.

Yeah, last time I went to the eye doctor, he said that the best time for people to get it done was around age 25, because your eyes stop changing a little before then and you have plenty of time to enjoy it before you get far-sighted.

My mom had this done a few years ago and loved it. She's getting really far-sighted now, though and has to wear the little glasses for reading stuff. I think her vision was bad enough that she was legally considered blind before, and she ended up with 20/20 vision.

now what exactly did they do?

slice off a top layer, looks like they flashed light at it and put it back, then it heals?

I think that's the general idea. They slice off a flap of cornea. Then use the laser to burn off part of your retina, or reshape it. Then put the flap back on. The cornea of the eye heals amazingly fast.
