He was found guilty so there is little point to claiming innocence at sentencing. He's hoping by admitting his mistake he gets a few years off his sentence. Best of luck to him but trafficking drugs isn't a smart thing to do.

Well, except if there were any appeals. "Hey, we found a reason that some of the evidence should have been excluded! We want to appeal!" "Okay, but we have some new evidence now - his admission."
