I disagree.

She wont, I don't own any illegal weapons, and If I die then my licence to own a shotgun wont get handed onto my grandparents giving them the right to own my gun.

So if you die, they will have an unlicensed shotgun in their house, making them CRIMINALS.

You own a shotgun? Do you reallize what a powerfull and dangerous weapon that is? Couldn't someone could break into your house and steal it?

Anyone here live in the UK?

yep, but hopefully will feck off to canada within 2 years.

re: this thread, it is retarded giving that woman any punishment. it could have been a simple oversight.

also Hal9k, as far as breaking the law and being punished - the law doesn't mean something's wrong. case in point, the various laws regarding drugs. Not to mention being punished for smashing the head some piece of shit that breaks into your home.

Americans take that a little too far at time (texas iirc) but our laws are totally fecked regarding that. IMO of course :p

Yea UK is pretty fucked up all around. I will celebrate this weekend with enthusiasm. :)

Maybe we should be mourning instead. The country we were VS the country we're becoming. UK seems insane today, but it'll feel just like home in another 20 years of growing the American police state.

whatever you say bracken

OK. good call.

The OP likes "freedom from", in other words-

Conspiracy_theorists_2.jpg

How does "freedom from" involve sticking your fingers in your ears, it's an active thing to have freedom from something, not a passive thing.

So if you die, they will have an unlicensed shotgun in their house, making them CRIMINALS.

If I die, I imagine they will have something like 30 days to sell the gun to someone else before they are committing a crime, the police would I imagine have been notified if my license gets revoked while I still own the gun. After all they come round once a year to check my gun is properly stored.

That's why I have it secured, locked up, only I have the key and I have no ammunition.

This ladie's gun was locked up too, not that it stopped the thief.

Whitelaw told police that after he discovered he had stolen a gun, which was in a cash box in a safe, when he got away from the crime scene he immediately decided to bury it "because I can get five years straight away for it".

I think it's just too dangerous for you to have a shotgun at home. If you have no ammuntion for it, why keep it at home? you're only begging for it to be stolen . It should be stored in a government facility and checked out when you need it.

Methinks you are a bit of a hypocrite on this one.

In an ideal world it would be stored out side my home, but I can't find anywhere.

And all of my guns are legally owned and legally stored yet you don't think I should own them. Like I said, methinks you're a bit of a hypocrite.

Methinks not. IMO people should not have the legal right to own a loaded weapon, if that encompasses my shotgun, I'm fine with that. No complaints here.

This thread isn't about that though, for some reason everyone in this thread has a problem with an old woman being arrested for committing a crime, that is what this thread is about.

In this country we can legally own weapons, so using your own standards, your opinion doesn't mean shit. You legally own your shotgun and we legally own our handguns, etc.. I don't know of anyone who stores their weapons loaded though. That would just be stupid and you can't easily fix stupid.

BTW. where do you store your ammo? Couldn't you store your gun there?

About the old lady. a mandatory 5 years is ridiculous and anybody who thinks otherwise is a fool.

I'm not in your country, I'm in the UK.

That's true.

Very stupid

I don't own any ammo.

5 years may seem harsh, but the law is the law, if the judge wants to be more lenient because the woman is old and forget, then that's up to him.

LOL, thank God for that. You wouldn't like this country much IMO.l

You still don't seem to see the hypocrisy of owning a gun while telling others they can't.

I'm pretty content with the difference between:

Applying for a shot gun license
Having a police background check
Receiving a license
Having the police come round the house to check how the weapon is to be stored, Checking who owns a key
Having a disassembled shotgun with no ammunition stored in a secure box that has been checked by the police
Police re-check every year or so

vs

Old woman has a pistol in a box.
