This makes absolutely no difference in where Darko gets picked. It's a simple 'cost of doing business' for the team that picks him -- they'll just have to settle with the team that currently holds his contract, basically pay them to go away. A few million and it's done.... Why do you think Hemofarm Vrsac (his current team) waited until now to make this statement? They wanted to make sure Darko would get drafted high, and then serve notice that they need to get some payola as well to make that happen. Strictly business.....
The problem is that the current player's union contract only allows a team to pay 350k to get a foreigner out of their contract. Will that be enough?
"We feel this is an outgrowth of the team to attempt to pressure Darko. We've been involved with international players the last six years. We've been down this road many, many times before and have achieved a positive outcome for our clients.
"We're not concerned at this point. We're in negotiations and are very optimistic that this will be resolved amicably. By no means will this impede Darko from playing in the NBA."

Hmmm.... I didn't know what. That just means the team will pay the 350k and then get creative, finding other ways to get some $$$ to the folks that currently hold the contract. Yao is a good example, the Rockets paid the Chinese club and the government a LOT of $$$ to be able to sign him and bring him over.
