Uhhhh...I think my laptop power adapter is going to self destruct

Kept hearing this noise that sounded like a fly that just kept repeating this "buzz buzz buzz buzz" noise. Ended up tracking it down to the power adapter under the table that goes to my laptop. It's almost burning hot to the touch and is making a really nasty noise.

I know there were recalls on the 4XXX, 5XXX and some of the 8XXX series of Inspirons, but not the 600m's.

Did I miss the memo?

No, you are suposed to wait for something to catch fire and then sue for billions of bucks....

Seriously call dell and see if they will send you a new one.

I recommend waiting until the adapter shorts out completely and takes your laptop with it.............. 😀

Call Dell, nobody here cares.

Please don't speak for everyone because you are wrong, I care.

Yeh. No kidding. I've got about 10 of these laptops in service. I don't want houses or offices, or hotels burning down from this.

According to this page it's not under the recall.......yet

It is a serious issue, I agree, and he should be calling Dell, not posting about on an OT internet forum.

I normally would agree. But.... have you ever tried to call Dell? You might as well be talking to a rock.

Yeah, an old Inspiron of mine... you could cook an egg on top of the adapter brick. Don't remember ever hearing noises from it though. If it starts to smell bad, then it's time to stop using it. Dell seems to have problems with overly hot or malfunctioning adapters. Never had a problem with ThinkPad adapters.
