uhh...quickie question about power management and SETI

When I'm running SETI (CLI w/SetiDriver), RC5, or Prime95, do I need to disable "Turn off hard disks" and "Standby" and so on in Power Management?

Or, will those features never activate since the CPU is being used...?

Standby OFF, sure🙂

But I run with Harddisk in powersafe mode, version 3.03 doesn't use the disk as much as version 1.x and 2.x
So for that little powersave you can do it😉

My experience with the Power Savings on the hard drive was just the opposite; running Win98SE and the CLI version of SETI 3.03, I found that a number of my machines would lock up at night, usually after submitting a WU and downloading another - I turned off the power-savings to the hard drive and the problem disappeared. As for the monitor(s), yeah, I don't bother with the power-saving settings, I just turn the monitor off.

I have Windows power down my HDD's after 30 mins.Only the 2nd & 3rd HDD get powered down & I've never had problems with my SETI/system HDD unwantingly powering down 🙂.

BTW guys doesn't the system check to see if the HDD's are being used before powering down?

the 2nd and 3rd HDD????

I..only have 1 HDD?? hehe

Assimilator, that's what I thought...windows should check to make sure the CPU isnt doing anything, or the HD isn't being written to b4 shutting stuff down...right now, i disabled them to be on the safe side 🙂
