Uh OH

replacement for the fan or for the card?, it it is for the fan only thermaltake has a nice one or vantec iceberg4 are nice as well, ive used both. about 25bux canadian. If looking to replace the card all together, id start about a 6600gt agp or around there

You can get various after market coolers to replace it, I'd suggest the Zalman Vf700 alcu or the artic cooling NV silencer

It's a BFG 128mb ti 4200 card. Looks like the current h/s is sitting directly on the GPU with no anchors holding it down, although looks like the card could handle a h/s with anchors on it.

my Ti4400 fan is also dying (it looks like it's just too old 😉) and I intend to just slap on a 50 or 60 mm fan on it with some superglue (keep the heatsink) wont be a very nifty looking item, but a new Ti4400 goes for about $20 on ebay, so I wouldnt spend too much on an aftermarket cooler. and just slap on a fan.

please update this thread with some pics when you are done with your modding 🙂

Well, my fan is not dead yet, and I'm in the middle of my exams, so I'll take the risk that it lives, I wont oil it because the last time I oiled a fan it simply never got spinning again. the card is geting toasty-hot tho so i'tll be whackec after the exams. it'll be a nice ghetto-fix, still dont know what i'll use to attach the fan. might be double sided tape, or epoxy or simply superglue, but i'll have to maintain some distance from the card so I'll see about that.
