I jusst installed my watercooling setup into my rig, and now when i go to turn the power on, everything turns on, but the ocmputer will not boot. My epox 8rda+ debugging code is stuck on 29. I tried removing the northbridge and cpu waterblocks, and reapplying as3 and then reinstalling the waterblocks with no success. Unfortunatly i do not have another amd cpu or amd motherboard to test the chip on. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

You'll have to describe your problem a little more. It won't boot as in nothing comes up on the screen? Or something comes on, but it stops. Also, put what's new on your computer and what's not. You just installed a WC setup but was it a new proc? New RAM? New system entirely? Or was it working fine before you put the watercooling in? Maybe reattach the old heatsink and trying it?

check your manual for that debugging code. It should tell whats wrong. They put that LED thingy there so u can see if ur computer isn't POSTing right.

do you have a HSF to first get it running ok with normal cooling?

beware some mobo's have failsafe and refuse to start if there is no fan connected to the cpu fan header, though you might be able to disable it once you get into BIOS. feature might be annoying you right now but i bet it's saved a LOT of cpu's.

edit: what does manual say code 29 erorr is for btw?, im not DL'ing the 10mb pdf to find out myself :)

It wont boot at all. The monitor wont evn come out of standby mode. Nothing is new except the watercooling setup. Everything worked prior to watercooling setup. Setup went bascically flawlesly so nothing sticks out in my mind of what could have gone wrong.
Sorry shoulda posted what the manual said about the debugging code:
29h : 1) Program cpu internal mtrr (p6 and pII) for 0-640k memory address
2) Initialize the APIC for pentium class CPU
3) Program ealy chipset according to CMOS setup.
Example: onboard ide controller.
4) Measure CPU speed.
5) Invoke Video Bios

I tried resseting the bios thinking there might be something wrong with parts 3 or 4. But now relooking at it, i'm gonna try and swap out the video card in case there is sumtin wrong with invoking the video bios.

When i first tried booting i got a memory error, but after taking out the sticks and reinstalling them it got past the memory check but then got stuck on 29.

Ive tried with a fan in plugged into the header and without one. Same result.
Just took out the video card, same result.

I also just noticed my HD Led is constantly on.

Thanx for all the quick responses too.

If your sure you didn't crack either the northbridge or the cpu cores, then try reseating the CPU. I noticed when I built a system using the 8RDA+ that the CPU needed to be held down to keep from popping one end up when I closed the retention arm.

Reseat your memory. How do you mount your waterblock? Does it use a backside mounting system? If so you need to check if something is getting shorted out from it.

Yea, look closely at your CPU, sounds like you cracked something. And if all else fails, disassemble the whole WC setup and try it again from your previous setup.

CPU in pristine order. Tried dissasebling the whole thing, and just putting in bare minimum, with ari cooling with no such luck. I found a couple other reports of this happaning on other forums. Consensus seems to be go out and get a new one. =(
