Uh oh... what does it mean if my config.sys file is empty in 98SE?

I'm trying to insert a few lines in to it, but I went to edit it and there was nothing there. Is this some kind of safeguard to keep the noobs such as myself out? If so, how can I get through it? Also, my autoexec.bat is empty.

My OS is 98SE.

Edit: Just read that this is normal. However, I'm trying to insert some lines and the directions say to insert them under the driver line that contains the word 'flash'. There's nothing in there at all, and no driver to install. What do I do now?

What are you trying to do? Just add the lines you need to and see if it results in what you are doing.

I've got a CF card -> PCMCIA adapter. Windows doesn't see it as a drive letter, but recognizes that it is there. Kodak has a help file on their site that tells me to add some lines to the config .sys file under a certain lines. There are no lines! Thus I begin a search of the kodak site to see if there's a driver hidden somewhere...

Is it empty now, when it had stuff in it earlier? Or did you just notice it was empty? If the config.sys hasn't had any alterations (additions) to it. Okay, I see you found this out. Nevermind. Um. About the driver part. I would just paste the lines in there, and see what happens. It won't actually hurt anything by testing it.
