Update:

Phew, the UPS truck came around and I just got it a few mins ago. :D

original message:

I don't think this is normal.

I was supposed to get HD from Maxtor, since my current one is screwed, up, so they sent me on and gave me a tracking number. Well, Today I check the tracking progress, and it says delivered at 12:04, but I never recieved the package, nor did I sign for it, nor did I even get a note in the mailbox saying the UPS man missed me.

This sucks big time. What should I do?

Btw, here is what it says:

Call them right away.

They can check the driver's logs when he returns to find out exactly where it was left and who signed for it.

I had a PC delivered one street over once and had to do that to track it down.

Looks like the driver stole it! :Q In any case, bitch to UPS and they will have to pay for a new one, since nobody signed for it and the driver just left it there.

Sounds like he left it at the front door. :(
A signature is only required if the shipper requests it.

UPS did this to us before too. except it was a emergency credit card my dad never requested. UPS apparently just lets anyone sign your order. even your neighbor. it is possible someone could have pulled into your driveway while UPS was delivering and claimed they lived there, signed it, and took it. were you home at the time? did you call UPS for any other details?

where did you get that? a sig required is automatic with insurance valuations over $1000.

I think you mean $100, but it's doubtful that Maxtor insured it - most vendors don't.

It's not normal. But it happened to me. My neighbor happened to be around when the guy was trying to drop it off. She signed for it and I got it later that evening.

Lol, I just got it! I just opened the door to let my sis in, when I saw the truck in front.

What that means is the driver left the package at your front door step, and this means UPS is completely liable for it.

I had an entire computer system ($1400) stolen from my door step a few years back, except it was Airborne Express who delivered it. At the time, I lived in an apartment building. Its one thing if you live in a house and you have a gate or something, but an apartment building!! Needless to say, I wasn't happy.

I called my credit card company and told them what happened. They told me not to worry and THEY would handle Airborne Express for me. My account was credited THAT day. I never heard from anyone after that. Apparently, Airborne Express sent a check to my credit card company.

The driver saw this thread when he got home and decided that stealing it wasn't a good idea. Then he brought it to you.
