Uh Oh! Upgraded Mobo and Lost Boot record? Help?

I just updated my mobo and cpu. I had an IDE raid and my new mobo has S-ATA raid (i have the converters). I couldn't get it to work, kept saying no boot record on the RAID. Struggled for a few hours, decided to try and put everything back in my original computer. Same error! It detects the raid and says it is functional, but says it has no boot record!? I've even tried doing it w/o the RAID - same problem on both drives. Could my new mobo have messed up my raid info? I'm pretty much a newbie with this stuff and am totally stuck. Is my data gone? How do I get a boot record back on it?

i assume you where running raid 0

you can not just switch mobos and expect raid 0 to work on a totally different controler card. It wasn't the mobo's fault in this case.

Now if you are not running raid 0 you might have a chance by running fixboot command when you boot from an XP or 2k cd and go into the repair mode.

OK, didn't know that. Yeah, it is mirrored, raid0 i beleive. So just so i understand, putting it on the new mobo did something to the raid info, and now it wont' work on either unless i repair it. Are there any parameters to fixboot? I've never done it before. Thanks Adul.

I managed to get the boot off of the XP cd. And am in the repair recovery. I don't see any fixboot.exe though? Where would I find it?

Raid 1 is the safe type of raid to use, raid 0 isn't

I am still stuck. Here's my config:

Two IDE drives w/ S-ATA connectors. These used to be a RAID mirror
One IDE drive (not bootable, data drive)

I have tried booting all together, each one alone, and both with and without the S-ATA. I got the IDE data drive to be recognized, but I can't seem to be able to boot off the CDROM and have the S-ATA recognized (either S-ATA or jsut as single IDE) in Raid or Not Raid.

So my first concern is - could I have permanently damaged my drives by moving them from one mobo to another (different RAID)?

What is P-ATA vs S-ATA? And Legacy and Native mode. I really don't know what to pick. I think my problem might be here.

My Mobo is MSI NEO2 PFISR

If I boot to my XP cd and run the diskpart it shows my IDE (former raid disks) as unpartitioned. How can I recover my partition info?
