I went to pick up my mom and I was an hour late (damn Internet addiction) so I couldnt grab any change. The car only had like 20 cents in change. And it was just my luck that right in front of me, there was a state trooper passing the toll booths (they were all automatic). I dropped the 20 cents in there but they probably got my plates. While I was looking for change, I saw no less than 2 cars go 60-70 past the toll booths. What are my chances of getting a ticket in the mail, and for how much? trying to search Illinois government sites but no luck yet

I got a ticket for it six months later (Accidentally skipped toll at Holland Tunnel) and it wasn't a ticket with a fine. All they wanted to do was to charge me for the $6 I owe and said if it happens again, then there will be a stiff penalty. They usually give you the benefit of the doubt.

You're probably going to have to serve a little time in jail. I'm thinking for only about a month, but some time nonetheless

You did call your mom at least to tell her you'd be late...right?

Those people going 60-70 through the tolls booths probably have an I-pass in their car to pay for the toll. I've skipped a bunch of tolls in Illinois, and so have my friends. We have never got a ticket or anything in the mail, ever.

How the heck did you get the little gate arm to open if you didn't throw enough change in the toll?

Remember when they said tolls were only temporary to help pay for construction of its bridges/tunnels?

Yeah, real temporary.

erm...hehe, no? I woke up and was out the door in 10 seconds with my tool flapping in the breeze through my boxers

billgates, there wasnt an arm or anything on the lanes. It was an on-ramp

cjchaps, I didnt see any ipass signs around the booths. Besides, dont you have to be going like 40 mph for it to register? They advise that people go 15 mph through the ipass lanes but thats only so some idiot doesnt rear-end other vehicles at 50 mph.

I shouldve blazed through the damn booth but the trooper was right there in the next lane. The camera probably wouldnt have caught my plates if I had sped through there, but I was sitting there digging for change for like 30 seconds. The lady behind me started honking, so I did what any other punk kid would do. I flipped her off and sped off. :D

That recommended i-pass speed is only that, a recommendation. I've known people who have gone through the i-pass lanes at 120mph and they still register. :D

A month is a super long time! People make like $4,000 a month from work. In addition you might get a cell with a thug and the cells are smaller than dorm rooms. The toilets are like the ones you find at the restaurants that have sticky tables and flies everywhere. Also do you get to take showers everyday? You also wear those pinstripe clothes for a long time before they are washed, and I don't image the prison clothes to be the soft. The floors aren't even hardwood, they are concrete and the beds are horrible. I don't see how "some time" can be as long as a month. Some time is like two days. I hope I never go to jail. It's scary sounding.

Did you at least square that away before picking up Mom? If not, you are going to hell after your lengthy prison term.
