hey my D: drive deleted itself but all information seems to still be where its mean to !!!!!

my computer recognises the drive - it will still open and close!!!

i cannot re-install it and i dont know what i should do!

If you can't explain what's wrong (because you can't seem to write anything close to proper English), then you're probably not going to be able to fix the problem, even if we tell you exactly what to do (which we can't, because your post is too inarticulate).

Take it to a professional.

I can write proper english!!!

My computer got hacked a short time ago and when i fixed that problem I saw another problem - my D:// drive wasnt there any more!

I have tried to locate the drive and have come up with nothing!

I have also tried re-installing the hardware but my computer does not recognise it!!!

I hope that i dont need to take it to a professional!!

If you have any more questions about it just ask me and ill tell you!
 
your posts are anything but clear. I assume you are talking about a second hard drive that was your D: drive. However, i don't know what you mean by it deleted itself yet the information is still where is should be....

Edit: After reading your post again, you said open and close, so this must be an optical drive. I don't know what "information" is still there, but I think you are saying that your computer does not recognize your optical drive (CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/etc.).

BTW- all the info has moved into my c: drive
 
I can think of a few possiblities:

1. You have the jumper set for "Cable Select" and you have another drive on the same IDE channel that is conflicting with it.

Is your optical drive on the same IDE channel as your hard drive?

If so, are both drives set for "Cable Select?" If so, do you have them in the right positions so your hard drive is the master?

Even if you have them set correctly, I have seen some hard drives conflict and optical drives that do not work well using Cable Select. You can check by setting the jumpers to Master and Slave on the two drives.

Regardless of whether this is the problem, you will get faster transfers between drives if you put the drives on separate IDE channels.

2. Your IDE cable failed. Try replacing it.

3. Try deleting the drive from Device Manager and rebooting. Your system should recognize the drive as new hardware and install it again.

4. The possiblitiy of the "duh" factor. Did you check with another CD to see if you just had an unreadable disk in the optical drive?

What do you mean when you say, "all the info has moved into my c: drive"? What info?

When you go to My Computer, do you see an icon for the D: drive? Has it perhaps acquired a different letter, like E: or F:?

If you don't see its icon in My Computer, try going into the BIOS, and see if your motherboard detects the drive. (You can enter the BIOS by pressing F1--or DEL, on some PCs--during the first stages of the boot process.)

hey man, have you tried to F with the bios lately? This can mess up the drive permanently.

I have the same problem on my AOpen DVD-Rom drive...I've declared it dead, no possible fix.

My guess is that it's crapped out.
