I tried to cut my own hair to save money. Figured the $6 investment in scissors and mirror would be worth it if I didn't screw it up.

I messed up and cut a chunk of hair near my ear down to the skin. Drove back to the store and bought a buzzer. $15. Buzzed it off on the shortest setting.

Noticed a ugly looking set of moles, one of them very large. Hadn't been there when I was younger. Went to see the dermatologist. $60.

On top of that I don't even look very good with a shaved head. In fact with this giant mole I look pretty bad. Lesson is pay a barber to do it right.
