I can't think of anything uglier for sale today than these two.

But which is uglier.

I voted the i3 because the new Prius is similar (but uglier) than the old Prius, whereas the i3 is just all-new ugly.

I saw an i8 the other day. That's what an electric/hybrid should look like :)

I voted i3... in pics the prius looks pretty bad in pics. I had my tundra in for service and saw one in person. I didn't think it was too bad standing in front of it.

I don't care for either cars styling but neither is particularly worse than a lot of other car models out there. Face it we are currently in an era of particularly bad auto styling. The giant bow-tie front grilles, stupid designs in led headlights, headlight lens that nearly reach the cockpit, etc.

If you asked about worst ad campaign though Prius would win hands down. The agency should be dropped and everyone at Toyota who approved the ad project should be shown the door.

I'm not sure if there is anything uglier than a modern day BMW. although I will say new 5 looks ok.

BMW lost me when they released 7 series back int he early 2000s.......Just about everything after that was just hard to look at. Sure they might have had a decent looking car here and there.

Hardest thing for me was the opposite end of extreme. I used to stop/look and admire BMWs as a kid (E30 for example, 80s and 90s cars). Take a 2nd look and really just enjoy looking at them.

That all went out the window after 2000 aka Bangled look. Or as I like to call it, over the top/melted plastic design. Now I want to puke when I look at modern BMWs.

I seen the new 1 series the other day (or is it 2?)........looks horrid.

To me, BMWs have been and is continuing to win the "ugly stick' award. Nissan is a close 2nd.

But that's just me, I know looks is like color or music. Different strokes for different folks. So it's kind of objective.

I agree. I wonder if the reason is safety; it's probably quite difficult to design something that can take high-speed, high-mass collisions from nearly all sides and still looks stylish.

If anything, the ad took jabs at the discontinued Crown Vic platform, including the original getaway car, which looked like a pre-'91 Panther. Although, that tow truck shouldn't have been towing away that car in that manner since it was RWD.

i3 looks like they were at least trying something different. The prius looks like they took a totally normal design and fucked it up.

I think companies are going retarded with their styling, because they can't really differentiate based on shape anymore. Cars are converging in shape because of aerodynamics / fleet fuel economy mandates.

I saw an i3 for the first time a few days ago. The picture above in no way does justice to just how ugly the car is in person. It's tiny as well which probably adds to the ugliness. It's like BMW took the number of ugly elements and over styling details that most car makers would require a full sized SUV to make use of and somehow managed to squeeze them all into this shoe box sized car.

I'd say the i3 edges out the Pious... you expect that look for a tree-hugger car, not from BMW.

i'd vote the bmw i8... I wouldn't mind having one, but the looks are kinda meh.

If the bmw i3 or i8 had a solid monocolor scheme it'd look fine in my opinion. The 2-tone is what makes them look so bad. The i3 has weird window cutouts, and the i8 has lots of weird angles.

What's going on with those prius headlights... reminds me of facepaint from the band KISS.

I saw a new Prius on the way to work this morning. That thing is even uglier in person than in the pictures. :D

Ignoring the question, the worst thing for me about the Prius is that stupid centre Gauge Cluster. It just makes the car seem cheap, like a toy and not a real car.

They should just call it the Move Box and embrace the fail.
