Sometimes I hate my boss. I've been looking at different internships for next summer and figured I'd give my current workplace right of first refusal. I approached my boss about moving to an intern position at the end of spring semester now he's confused. I'm not sure if he doesn't understand what I mean by internship of if he's just confused by my major (MIS). I don't want to press him about what he's confused about because I really don't want to sound condescending (he's actually a rather nice guy). Any suggestions on how to educate him without making him feel like an idiot?

Ok, I don't really hate him. I hate the situation he's put me in. I'd like to explain it to him but I'm told I have a nasty habit of sounding condescending when I do get into explanations. I guess I'm just looking for some tips to clear this up for him without coming across as a jerk.

don't lean forward, keep your hands at your sides, don't raise your eyebrows, don't ramble, prepare what you have to say and make sure it is clear, and quick.

think of what you want to say before hand, rehearse in front of the mirror or better yet infront of your friends. try to say it like you are saying something else, like ordering food

Hrmm..never thought about rehearsing in front of my friends. Guess I was overthinking it, thanks.
