I don't care if I'm the only person this happened to, here's my experince with the Zune software. I installed it, didn't tell it to do shit to my music collection as I had all my cover art and tags perfect. The Zune software proceeded to fuck up a good 80% of my collection, my tags were all wrong and it seemed to randomly change my album art. I'm still trying to fix everything it fucked up. I wouldn't use the Zune software unless I had a Zune, because I know I'm not the only person who's had it mess up my music royally.

when i first got my nano 1st gen i loaded itunes and dumped my mp3 library into it. i had it all separated my genre, then band. when i looked at my library, it had restructured everything in there to band/album inside the main folder. pissed me off to no end. when i synced the first time, it cut the last 10 to 15 sec off every song i put on the player. not only was it like that on the player, but the files themselves had been truncated. the next iteration of itunes didnt do the same truncation to new music, but my original 600ish songs were forever fucked up.

this shit happens to everyone once in a while, get over it.

After playing around with the Zune Software (4.2 I think), I have concluded that it is VASTLY inferior to iTunes. So much so that it makes me sad that I am stuck with an Apple software on my PC.

- No equalizer
- No individual song options; in iTunes you can configure an individual song's volume equalizer, sound equalizer, information, album art etc all with exacting precision.
- Awkward manual song management, again, like WMP, there is no way to drag songs into a newly created playlist. You have to add it to your library, then move those songs you want from your library to a playlist. This is just completely unnecessary, and in many cases, impossible to create the playlist you intended without huge additional hassle (think of a folder of random songs from say 2006, that once added to your library, is impossible to select them all quickly).
- Huge waste of space, different screen layouts, unnecessary home screen "QuickPlay". These things make for a prettier experience but a more frustrating one.
- Half assed rating system
- Far too intrusive account and non-music integration. If I want the software dedicated music, I should not have to deal with big links to "Podcasts, Channels, Pictures, Videos" etc.

It is just...vastly vastly inferior... :(

I like the now playing screen, it is purdy. Only reason I use it over iTunes when I boot into Windows.

When you first install iTunes it always asks if you want iTunes to reorder your library. The Zune software doesn't ask shit, there's a huge difference between a program that asks something a person might ignore, and one that just does whatever the fuck it wants without any notice what-so-ever.
