Ugh, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005) style is so ugly.

Which Jeep? There are three model lines.

Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Wrangler

how about showing some pictures first? don't say it looks like a CHEAP CHINESE CAR, when clearly the garbage GM is making it.

It looks like it should cost about 2/5 of what they actually go for. I like the front better than the WJ, since it looks more "jeepy" to me. The tradeoff, of course, is that it doesn't look like the "luxury sport-ute" that the WJ became. The back looks like a minivan.

Its called heritige, up until the Grand Cherokee Jeeps were simply 4WD boxes on wheels.
Actually the ZJ is a bit of a box on wheels in retrospect. At the time it came out it was definitely very un-jeepish though.

Of course, I didn't like the ZJ and it grew on me. Didn't like the XJ refresh in 97 and it has grown on me. Didn't like the KJ, but despite dodge truck taillights, I'm actually starting to like the thing.

You are right, the back does have that minivan look. If I buy a Jeep again, it won't be this new redesign!

Shoot, sorry I didn't think I would get so many quick replies. I was talking about the new Grand Cherokee. I saw it today on the road and I couldn't believe it.

The new commercials show where they want their sales to come from and what kind of vehicles they are making.

"Jeep Grand Cherokee-It's ON POINT, YO!"

I don't watch TV, but the new commercials for Jeep GC are aimed at urban trendz? I feel out of touch with style and I am only 27, ouch.

I'm 27 also, and yes it would be changing the brand to an urban SUV maker. Competing with Escalade's and the H2 for huge profit margin and crap for off road capability.

Because 99.9999% of the buyers dont offroad, perhaps? I have been on tons of offroad trips and I have seen a total of 3-4 99+ Grand Cherokees. Why continue to build it as an offroad vehicle when it isn't going to be used as one?

On a side note, I miss my 93 Grand Cherokee. It was the perfect mix of capability and luxury.

maybe i'm just ig'nant, but wouldn't it make more sense to make a big offroader out of an older jeep anyway, seeing as how rolling a rather new grand cherokee isn't the best way to spend money?

actually... a guy i kinda know rolled a brand spanking new GC trying to offroad. so he put on giant tires, wicked suspension, took off the doors, and started an offroad club at UT.

Exactly. Everyone I know who has a Jeep trail rig and then a daily driver ends up buying a Durango or Explorer or some other station wagon dubbed an SUV. It's not worth it to trash a $40k vehicle.

Though I did know a guy who took a brand new Durango out this past winter and trashed it by driving through an ice pack over top of a mud hole. :p
