Quick summary:
1) Went to bookstore today, wrote down ISBN #, it's supposed to be 0524659640. Bookstore price is about $100. Title is: Astronomy: Journey to the Cosmic Frontier 3rd edition. By John Fix, 2004
2) Go on half.com, notice they have many versions of the book. Click on one going for $55, its listed as Astronomy: Journey blah blah, 3rd edition. That link is here
3) After purchasing I notice the list price is $55. I search around and see that there are other "3rd editions" with later publishing dates like this one.
Of course none of those ISBN #'s match because none of them were published in 2004 like the one i'm supposed to get. Can they change stuff around in a textbook without changing the edition as long as the publishing year is different or something?
