Just heard a guy on the phone here in NJ where I work. Said he just bought 75 gallons of water for his house.

Everyone is predicting death and destruciton.. wondering if they will make it into work tommorow.

The call center women are worring every day if they will be okay. People are talking about there plans to go shopping for supplies..

Come on people.. the storm isnt going to smack us here in central NJ..

Stupid media hype.

Update thingy.. I was just told that yesterday the woman next to me here at work when to a Shoprite near my house (on the NJ/PA) border. She said that in the store they were making emergency weather updates telling people to get what they needed and giving real time forecasts. They were also saying how if you couldn?t find your supplies to contact the floor people for help.

Morons.

Rutgers is hardcore.

We only shut down once last year because of a blizzard.

It was fun in 1999 when Floyd hit.. people were out playing soccer on route 18 since it was shut down due to the floods.

Ahh.. those were the days.

Both the CBS and NBC affiliate here in Charlotte had one hour specials on the hurricane last night at 8 PM. From how they are covering it, you would think it was headed for Charlotte. I highly doubt anyone on the coast is watching Charlotte news.

he bought 75 gallons of water? im in the eastern part oc north carolina, if it comes to it, ill fill my bath tubs and a few pitchers up

he buys bottled water regularly right? bah to that, thats why i have a faucet

Though I will completely agree media coverage is out of control. But people are watching it.
Blame that on the stupidity of the people watching it. As well as the people who go out
and purchaase 75 gallons of water, whats that a gallon for every miles per hour the wind is
traveling.

However even a cat 1 hurricane is nothing to take for granted. And sometimes that media hype
overblowing of a storm will prevent stupid people from doing stupid things like being out during the
storm. And especially on the coast where a 12-15(or worse) storm surge can cause many problems.

And yes I am and was sick of people saying this is the worst storm ever espeically when it was hundreds of
miles from the US. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted that by the time it was going to make
landfall it would be considerably weakened. But like I said a cat 2 hurricane isn't anything to just shrug off
Its still going to take down alot of trees and dump tons of rain.

I live in Richmond, VA

And I'm at work today because I'm "essential employee".....

At least I get free breakfast and lunch today.... I'm hoping to get out of here by 2:30. I talked to a lady from Kill Devil Hill yesterday and helped her shut down her branch so she can flee inland. That I can understand, My friend's parents are spending a week in Atlantic City this week, It won't bother them as they're not in the path and by the time it gets close to them, it'll die off.
